Anyone who is in need of food can contact the Second Harvest Food Bank and be referred to a food program in their local community.
To receive information call 239-2091 from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Food 4 Thought supplies supplemental groceries
to needy children participating in existing tutorial programs at
local schools and community centers. In exchange for eight
hours per week spent in a tutoring program, each child earns a 15-18
pound bag of supplemental groceries, which they can take home and
share with their family.

There are currently 2,700 children at 38 sites participating in this program.
The
Senior Brown Bag Program is designed to deliver bags of
supplemental groceries to low-income senior citizens, twice a month,
at sites throughout San Joaquin County. This program,
coordinated with the Department of Aging and Community Services,
helps low-income seniors balance their daily dietary needs and
maximize their limited income towards other needs, such as rent and
medical expenses.
In the 2008-2009 program year, over 976,000 pounds of groceries were distributed. There are currently 2,700 seniors at 22 sites participating in this program.

The Food Assistance Program provides local non-profit charities with a source of nutritious supplemental groceries for their feeding programs. Through these agencies, the Food Bank serves the needs of low income families, homeless, the mentally ill, abused children, battered women, and others in need of food.
To become an agency of the Second Harvest Food Bank you will need to provide the following.
