It’s that time of year when our local food banks are running low on donations and to help, The Save Mart is having their annual peanut butter drive, Peanut Butter Roundup.
The Peanut Butter Roundup is meant to raise awareness of the struggles many families experience during the summer break when their kids do not have access to school meals. Peanut Butter makes for a perfect donation because it’s high in protein, shelf-stable and kids enjoy it.
This year, the Peanut Butter Roundup will run from May 1 to May 14. To give the campaign a boost, Jif, Adams, and Sunny Select peanut butter brands are offering a Buy One/Give One promotion at Save Mart and Lucky stores, making it easy for you to participate. New this year, the Save Mart is making the Sunny Select brand peanut butter available under this promotion- same quality at lower prices. Every time you buy one jar of peanut butter you get another one of the same brand free to donate! Last year, our stores collectively received ten tons of peanut butter, enough to make more than a quarter-million sandwiches!
For the second year in a row, the “roundup” feature will also be made available at the cash register. Shoppers are given the opportunity to roundup their grocery bill to the nearest dollar and 100% of the change will benefit local food banks. Last year, nearly $10,000 was collected and given to local food banks.
New this year, FoodMaxx stores are participating in the Peanut Butter Roundup! All FoodMaxx stores will offer a $1.99 peanut butter sale on Sunny Select, Skippy, Adams, and Jif peanut butter!
Help spread the love by telling your family and friends to participate! Post pictures about donations on social media by using the hashtag #PeanutButterRoundup to help build momentum for the event.
